I’ve been to quite a few weddings, and one thing that every one has is a guest book. So of course, that’s something Michael and I are planning to pick up for our own wedding. However, something about the traditional, plain guest book bores me. And from what I’ve heard from other brides, they often get forgotten shortly after the wedding. After all, how often are you really going to look at it?!
Lucky for me (and for other brides), there are a few great alternatives to the traditional guest book. As usual, I took to Etsy to find them…
1. Thumb Print Tree

Make a unique and fun impression at your wedding with this beautiful alternative to a traditional guest book — the thumb print tree! Have your guests leave their thumbprint and signature on a branch of the tree and then keep the one-of-a-kind family tree on a wall in your home to enjoy year round. Find it at Sweet Carolina Designs.
2. Guest Book Puzzle

Unlike many wedding guest books, this is one you’ll want to play with. Bella Puzzles will turn a photo of you and your beau into this unique wooden jigsaw puzzle. Then, at your wedding, each guest signs the back of a piece. What an awesome memento!
3. Photo Guest Book

This is probably the closest thing to the traditional guest book, but I still think it’s way cooler and much more personal! In fact, I’m pretty sure this is the option Michael and I are taking through our photographer. After all, what else are we going to do with all of our kick-ass engagement photos?! And the nice thing about this one, is that it makes a great coffee table book after the wedding. The option above is from Epiphany Designs.
4. Wish Tree

The wish tree is one of my favorite guest book alternatives, because I think it makes a very unique decor item at the wedding. Of course, many brides choose to do this as a DIY project, but you can find some very cute gift tags on Etsy — like these from SassyMolassyPants. This is also a viable option for Michael and I : )
What’s your favorite guest book alternative? And what other cute ideas have you seen?

I love the thumbprint tree and the puzzle! Putting either of them in a shadow box/frame to hang in your home is timeless :) Thanks for sharing!
The shadow box idea is really great! I love a shadow box to memorialize lots of wedding-day elements. I think I’m going to make a cute one with my bouquet in it after the wedding :)
I am so in love with your blog! Getting married next year and so glad I found you! …great collection! I love the puzzle – haven’t seen that before!

Thanks, Kim! Always nice to hear kind words :) I’ll be sure to check out your blog as well!
I love all these ideas. I’m totally thinking outside the box with our guestbook. We’ll have a bunch of canvases for people to sign or draw on the hang them up surrounding our ketubah. Can’t wait! http://blog.benaimfletcher.com/?p=204
VERY cool! You must send me some photos after the wedding :)
We are having our guests sign quilt blocks (in our wedding colours) and then using them to create a quilt after the wedding. Excited to see the final product.
