Top 2015 Wedding Trends

It’s officially 2015, and the New Year is filled with exciting new trends,
colors, themes, and ideas. From stealing themes from British royalty to
latching on to the old-time favorite flowers, 2015 is filled with new and
exciting, old and reminiscent ideas and trends. Here’s a look at some of the
new and improved (as well as old and favorable) ideas for you to consider!

**Taking Ideas:** We’ve all been lavishly captivated by the extravagant beauty of the British style; heck, even our TV shows, clothes, and dining tastes have been virtually “affected” by the British. Well, that’s not such a bad thing considering the British Royalty and culture is absolutely fantastic! For 2015 brides, following the example of the British culture is a fantastic idea. If you want your wedding to feel posh, sophisticated, elegant, and unforgettable, than going British is a good way to go. You can easily follow the British example by hosting an outdoor tea party, complete with British teas, peonies, biscuits (aka crackers or cookies) and soft colors. For example, you could lavish your tables with soft colored flowers placed in vases, delicate china as the dinnerware, and glass champagne cups. Your bridal party’s attire should follow suit with the style; try soft hues of pinks or blues, lace, and light materials. Posh and elegant are all the rage these days. **Accessorize with the Littles:** It’s the little things that make the biggest impact. Think about it, when you go to a wedding, your drawn to the ornate little pieces that captivate the eye. Think buttons and ribbons, for example. You could use buttons for just about anything; don’t go for one style of button either, find a smorgasbord of different sizes, shapes, types, and colors of buttons to really captivate each guest’s attention. Be creative with your buttons and ribbons! For example, decorate your wedding invitations with a button; each card has to be opened by unraveling a piece of ribbon wrapped around an attractive button. How romantic! **Picture Perfect:** Selfies are the newest and greatest thing today, so why not incorporate a popular picture preference into your wedding? Have a “selfie” booth set up, complete with theme- appropriate props. For example, if you’re sticking with the British theme, have paper mustache’s, paper top hats, and shawls. Make it fun! This picture booth could be used as your wedding guest book as well – each person will take a Polaroid picture and place it next to their names. It’s a fun and original idea. **Tasty Sips:** Instead of having a full out full-service bar (which can be expensive, to say the least) you could have a tasting bar. Set up a station where people can choose from a list of alcoholic beverages (and/or virgin) and give them a taste. This will give your guests the opportunity to taste a variety of unique drinks, without costing you an arm and a leg. 2015 is raging with hot new wedding trends, so if you’re looking to embrace the new year with new ideas, than try a few of these suggestions!

Your Wedding Registry: The Office

If you have an office, or extra room that you want to turn into an office, than registering for your office is another good idea! With your office, there are a few items that you could add, giving your guests more of an option to choose from. There aren’t a whole lot of items you can register for when it comes to the office, but there are a few things you could add! Here are just a couple ideas for you to consider! Another area for you to consider for your registry is your porch; any outdoor patio furniture or items would be great to add to your registry! So along with your office items, here are a few great patio accessories you should add to your wedding registry. **The Office Items:** From an office chair to a filing cabinet, there are a few great items you could definitely register for. Here are a few examples:

* Office Chair: Find one that’s both comfortable but also the right size for the room. You don’t want a chair that’s too big and takes up a lot of space, so find a right sized chair that’s comfortable.
* Filing Cabinet: Whether you want the old-school metal filing cabinet or a newer, updated version, you should find one that’s the proper size (enough drawers) and is the right style. There are tons of different ones, so go shopping and find your favorite that’s the most functional.
* Office Accessories: If you want to register for a few things, you could register for a set of really nice pens, a calculator, and a paper weight. These are just three of many items you could register for, so decide what you want and need and go from there.
* Decoration Items: Give your office space some TLC and add a few decorating pieces like pictures, paintings (don’t get too ritzy though!) and maybe a few little desk “statues”.

**For The Patio:** If you’re like me, than being outdoors makes you irrevocably happy. If you want to make relaxing outdoors your favorite time of day, than make sure to register for things like:

* Patio Furniture: A table with 4 wicker or wire chairs is perfect for the ultimate comfort! If you want to add a few lounge chairs for even more relaxation, add those to the registry too!
* Patio Chair Cushions: You want to be comfortable, so register for plush, outdoor, washable chair cushions.
* An Umbrella: If your patio isn’t covered, adding a huge umbrella to the registry will keep you, your family, and your guests covered and comfortable.
* A Grilling Set: If your fiance loves to grill, add this to your registry (if you didn’t already purchase this as a gift for him!). You’ll be able to enjoy delicious steaks and shish kabobs for days to come!
Now that we’ve taken a gander at all the rooms and items you could add to your
registry, your wedding registry should be all set! Just a few things to
remember: Add a smorgasbord of items to the registry so your guests can choose
what they want to get you. Also make sure to have a large price range to
ensure that each of your guests can comfortably purchase a gift for you within
their financial means. Also, make sure all your items are practical, fun,
enjoyable, and personal! So, now that you have your registry all together,

Your Wedding Registry: Things for your Room

Your wedding registry is starting to look complete now that you’ve started registering for living room, bathroom, and kitchen items. Now that we’ve gotten your registry well on its way, we’ll go ahead and look at some great items to add to your registry for your bedroom! From pillows to picture frames, you’ll have just about everything you need to make your bedroom feel like your safe haven!

**Things for your Bedroom:** Unlike the kitchen or maybe even the living room, you don’t need a whole lot of things. You and your spouse will be bringing in a lot of your own personal bedroom items, so you won’t need all the major things such as dressers and a bed (if you and your spouse are using one of your beds). But, if you want to give your bedroom a fresh appeal (if your pink, fluffy pillows and purple fuzzy bed set won’t work…) than here’s a list of some great items for you to add to your wedding registry! One other thing you’ll want to keep in mind – your bedroom should have a similar, consistent theme. So make sure to pick a theme, whether it’s country chic, vintage, or modern, and make sure to register for similar items that match.

* Rug: If you have hard wood or carpet and/or if you live in a place with a cooler climate, than a plush rug will be a fabulous addition to your room. This is a pricier item, but like I had mentioned before, you’ll want to put a range of items and prices on your registry.
* Pillows: Throw pillows are great for giving your room a face lift, making it look classy, chic, and adult. Get a variety of sizes, colors, and textures to give the bedroom depth and pizazz.
* Bed Set: Take it from me – you can never have too many sheets! Get a variety of colors and textures if you like.
* Comforter: Register for two types of comforters – a thick, plush comforter for the winter season and a thinner quilt for the summer and spring.
* Decorations: If you’re revamping your entire room and going for a different look, than you’ll want to add a few decoration pieces to your wedding registry. For example, you will want to add things like:
* Picture frames
* Inexpensive prints/paintings
* Lamps & lamp shades
* Two bedside tables/nightstands
Your bedroom, as we can see, doesn’t need as many items to make it homey, especially if you and your spouse are bringing your personal belongings from your old rooms. Making it personal, new, and cozy is a lot of fun though, so if you’re looking to totally revamp your style, you will definitely want to add a few of these items to your wedding registry.

Your Wedding Registry: Bathroom Needs

We’ve taken a look at what we need for both the living room and the kitchen,
so now we will go ahead and take a look at what all you need for the bathroom.
Your bathroom may be a relatively small space, but you’d be surprised at what
all you need just to get started. From little things to big things, cleaning
items to storage units, your bathroom will need a collection of different
pieces. So, to help you out a little bit, here is a list of a few things you
may want to add to your registry!

**Things to Add:** For the bathroom part of your registry, you’re looking at a lot of smaller items; unlike the kitchen which is chalk full of larger tools and gadgets, the bathroom is mostly comprised of your little ticket items. To get you started, here’s a list for you to consider:

* Bathroom Set: This bathroom set includes your soap dispenser, toothbrush holder, soap bar dish, and sometimes even a garbage pail. Finding a matching set will be relatively easy – Bed Bath & Beyond is probably one of the best places to go for all of your bathroom needs.
* Towels: You can never have too many towels. When it comes to towels, and if it’s just the two of you, register for 3-4 towels in 2-3 different colors – so basically, you’ll want to register for about 6-12 towels. When you have guests or family members stay the night, you want to make sure that you have enough to go around. Also, when you register for towels, register for the matching set of hand towels and was wash rags.
* Shower Curtain: You’ll want to register not only for the outer curtain that everyone sees (the fancy, pretty one) but you’ll also want to register for the waterproof inside curtain as well. There are two types of water proof curtains – plastic and fabric.
* Double Glide Shower Hooks (to keep your shower curtain on the rail)
* Shower Caddy: My favorite shower caddies are the ones that hang from the shower head. You can put a lot in them without worrying about the suction coming undone and a torrential downpour of shampoo bottles, wash rags, and razors falling on top of you.
* Mats: You can register for just a bath mat or bath, sink, and toilet mats as well. Depending on how big your bathroom is will determine how many mats you need. You don’t want too many mats because you don’t want to crowd the space.
* Baskets: If you’re anything like me, than you love to have baskets for organization. Little baskets placed on shelves or racks will help keep all your toiletries where they belong without cluttering up your counter space or taking up room under the sink.
* Towel Rack
* Toilet Paper Holder: This isn’t something you necessarily have to register for, but it’s an option!
Now that we have a generalized list of what all you can put on your wedding
registry, it should be getting a little easier determining what all you really
need! From shower caddies to tons of towels, with this generalized list, your
bathroom will be well stocked!

Your Wedding Registry: Living Room Essentials

This is the fun part of your registry; this is where most of your “wants” come
into play as you personalize your house to make it your home. Your
personality, your preferences, and your tastes all come together to make your
house into the perfect little home for you and your new husband, so have fun
with this part of the registry! Here are a few great basic essentials you can

**Things to Add:** Think comfy, cozy, decorative,
fun, and necessary. When people walk into your living room, it’s testament to
your decorating style and preferences, so have a theme in mind and go for
items that match! Here are a few ideas:

* Pillows: Have a few different sizes, colors, and shapes of pillows to really amp up your living room style and give your couch/couches or chairs a little pizazz. A few plush pillows placed on your furniture really gives it a cozy, homey feel.
* Throws: Shags and big, comfy throws really give your living room that “come chill in here” feel. Add 2, maybe 3, throws onto your registry for variety. Honestly, there’s no such thing as too many blankets!
* Rugs: This is a pricier item, but if you have all wood floors and you want to break up the monotony, this is a great way to do it.
* Tables: Add 2 side tables to your registry as an option – it’s a pricier item as well, so it may be something you and your spouse have to purchase, but at least it gives your guests the option as a possible purchase.
* Lamps: You need lamps in your home, so register for 1-2 tall lamps and 1-2 table lamps. Try to stick with the same exact style so there’s not too much going on in your living room style wise. If you have a desk, you could even throw a desk lamp onto your registry as well.
* Decoration: This is a longer list of stuff you could add. Here are some ideas:
* Picture frames (have a variety)
* A couple of your favorite prints (be reasonable in the price department…)
* Coasters
* Wall mirrors
* Cleaning Essentials: This one encompasses your whole home, but it goes well under your living room essentials. Here are a couple ideas:
* Vacuum
* Mopping system
* TV: This is definitely a pricier item and one most likely you and your spouse or a family member will end up purchasing. But hey, it’s still a great item to throw onto your registry!
* Window Treatments: This includes your curtains, blinds (if needed) and any other window treatments you may want or need.
Now that we have a few items on your registry for your living room, your registry is starting to bring your home together! Tips: register for items that you need, and make sure you have a few of the same items, such as lamps, pillows, and throws. Have fun with this portion of your registry! This is testament to your personal taste so go all out and enjoy the results! Your guests will have fun purchasing these items too!

Your Wedding Registry: Starting With the Kitchen

When I started my wedding registry, my favorite section was the kitchen. There
were so many cool gadgets and trinkets that I felt like a kid in a candy
store. I wanted it all – all the super cool KitchenAid handy dandy tools, all
the measuring spoons, ice-cream scoopers… You name it, I wanted it. After
filling the scan gun with pretty much every item in the kitchen section, I had
to take a second and think, do I really need that $20 ice-cream scooper or
that $600 knife set? Not really. I’m no gourmet chef or someone who spends
countless hours in the kitchen, so I didn’t need all those super cool kitchen
utensils. That’s where a practical registry guide came in handy. It showed me
all the basic necessities that I needed that still allowed me to have a nifty
kitchen with nifty gadgets. So, for starters, here’s a helpful list of kitchen
items that you may (or may not) need or want! Everyone’s a little bit
different, so pick and choose what’s best for you and add/take away what you
don’t need!

**The List:** We’ll go ahead and start with the big stuff first and work our way down to the itty-bitties. Here are some larger, key kitchen items that you may want to add to your registry:

* KitchenAid mixer (if you couldn’t tell, I’m a huge KitchenAid fanatic…)
* Toaster Oven/toaster (toaster ovens are great for using as mini stoves as well – they’re kind of a dual-purpose item)
* Blender
* Microwave
* Knife set: Here’s where research comes in handy. I have the KitchenAid knife set (surprise, surprise) but depending on your cooking skills and preference, there may be other knife sets that are better for you. Do your research and find out which one will best suit your needs.
* Coffee Pot
* Pots & Pans: They have many great brands – decide on how many pots and pans you need and what brand you may like best.
* Spice rack: This is more of a “want” than a need, but it’s still a great item to add to your registry. Plus, if you love to cook, this really comes in handy.
* Oven Mitts: 2 sets of oven mitts and 2 sets of pot holders is a good number to start with.
* Dish Towels: Have a set of fancy ones and not so fancy.
* Soap Dishes
* Measuring Cups and Spoons
* Spatulas, ladles, and spoons: Go for an array of different types of spoons and spatulas, including different sizes.
* Spatula Holder: If you want to keep all of your spoons and spatulas out on the counter for easy access, than you’ll want to register for one of these. Trust me, this really comes in handy.
* Bowls and plates: From dinnerware to mixing bowls, you want many and you want an assortment, especially for mixing bowls. There are many different types, from glass to plastic, so choose a set that best fits your preference.
* Silverware: You don’t really want to skimp on this, so do your research and choose a higher quality set. You don’t need a huge set if it’s just the two of you, but get a basic, high quality silverware set to get you started.
* Cutting Boards: I have both plastic and wood, and I love them both.
* Cups and Coffee Mugs
* Baking Items: This includes your cookie sheets, your muffin pans, and cake pans.
* Garbage Pail
* Ice Trays (if your fridge doesn’t have an automatic ice-maker).
* Cleaning Utensils: Your dish scrubbers and the like; make sure to have an assortment, that way your guests will have options.
It’s a pretty extensive, yet generalized, list, but hopefully it helps! It’s
important to remember that you need to get an assortment and a few of the same
items such as your spatulas, spoons, and pots and pans. Don’t be afraid to ask
a sales rep for help if you have any questions. Remember, register for items
that you really need, and throw in a few items that you’d really like! Have
fun and enjoy!

Ceremony and Reception Music Types and Tips

One of my beautiful friends will be getting married in just a couple short
months (yay!) and I can’t wait! I remember the hectic last few months of
wedding planning – making sure all my ducks were in a row, my “i’s” were
dotted and my “t’s” crossed made for a very busy few months. One stressor I
ran into, and one she’s currently experiencing, is finding the perfect
playlist for both the reception and the ceremony. Finding music that pertains
to your wedding theme yet still tickles the musical tastes of everyone can
seem a bit tricky. But not to worry! With a few tips and tricks, you (and my
lovely friend!) will be well on your way to the perfect ceremony and reception
musical playlist!

**Tips for you:** As we’ve
discussed before, you want to make sure that not only is the music personal
for you and your fiancé, but that it goes well with your wedding theme. You
want it to be consistent, yet fun at the same time! If you want to be
original, find tracks that not many people play at their weddings. If you want
to be traditional and play tunes such as “Marry Me” by Train or “Wedding
March” by Mendelssohn, than you’ll want to do your research on traditional
songs. So, to make it (hopefully) a little easier on y’all, I’ve come up with
a (very!) short list of some great ceremony and reception songs! **Traditional
Ceremony Songs:** Like I said, if you want to go with traditional songs, than
you’ll want to throw in several well-known ceremonial songs and reception
songs. Here are just a few:

* Ave Maria: F Schubert
* Clair de Lune: C. Debussy
* Trumpet Tune: H. Purcell
* Canon in D: J. Pachelbel (this is about as traditional as it gets!)
* The Wedding March: F. Mendelssohn- from A Midsummer Night’s Dream
**Traditional Reception Songs**: Again, with traditional music, you want to find something that’s tasteful, personal, and still traditional. If you want classic tunes floating through the air, than try a few of these perfect songs:

* Twist and Shout: The Beatles
* Play that Funky Music: Wild Cherry (Ok, maybe this one is a little too traditional… and a little too funky. No pun intended).
* Girls Just Wanna Have Fun: Cyndi Lauper
* YMCA: Village People (I think even Grandpa would get up and dance to this one)
**Unique Ceremony Songs**: Ok, now that we’ve taken a step back in time and loaded your playlist with traditional (and probably even ridiculous, not-even-an-option songs), we can take a look at a few great, original and unique wedding ceremony songs!

* Dance Tonight: Paul McCartney
* Mama’s Song: Carrie Underwood (tear jerker!)
* Forever: Chris Brown
* Everlong: Foofighters
**Original Reception Songs**: If you want unique, then you’ll want to find songs that really match your quirky personality. Remember, if you want to be original and unique then you’ll want to have a selection that coincides with both your reception music and your ceremony music. Don’t be too “all over the place.” Try to have consistency and similar genres/styles. Here are some ideas:

* The Way You Look Tonight: Frank Sinatra
* You Are My Sunshine: Ray Charles
* All You Need Is Love: The Beatles
* My Girl: The Temptations
* Poker Face: Lady Gaga
OK, now that you have a tentative list of some classic and unique songs, just
remember that you want to have consistency and personality in your music. Make
it fun, jazzy, romantic, and stick with a theme! This day is all about you and
your fiancé, so make sure that the music you choose attests to your
personalities and tastes!

Your Wedding Registry

When I got engaged, I literally had to start from square one – I needed everything except my personal belongings, my antique dresser, and my three pillows. Starting from square one was a daunting task, so to help those of you who have to start from square one, I’ll be coming up with a list of things you _need._ Let’s be honest, there are a million things we want, but what do you really need in order to make your house a home? For the next few days, we’ll be going over a relatively detailed list, room by room, of essentials that you should put on your registry. **Where to Get Started: **Getting started is sometimes the hardest part. Where do you register? Where’s the best place or places to get everything you need at a decent price? Here is a list of a few stores that I registered at and are great places for you to register at as well!

* Bed, Bath, & Beyond
* Target
* Kohl’s
Those three places are the most popular places to register; almost every town
and city has one of these, and if they don’t your guests can easily go online
to purchase an item for you. Here is a list of less popular, but just as
great, places for you to register at as well:

* Macy’s
* Bloomingdale’s: This is mostly for your wants – a lot of great decoration items are here!
* Williams-Sonoma: This is a great place for making your kitchen a top-notch cooking nook!
* Best Buy: For all of your appliances, Best Buy is a great place to go.
With these stores in mind, also keep in mind that you’ll want to have a
collective selection of items with a range of prices. You don’t want all
expensive items on your registry, because you want to have gifts within a
range of people’s means. With that in mind, here is a list of the rooms you
need to register for! **Your Home and the Rooms Within:** When I got engaged,
I couldn’t believe the amount of stuff I needed. When I walked into Bed, Bath,
& Beyond, I had no clue where to start. Believe me when I tell you
BB&B started to look like a massive maze when I gazed at the rows of
cooking utensils, garbage pails, and light fixtures. So ladies and gents, arm
yourselves with your scanning gun, have your list ready, and let’s get

* **The Kitchen:** Oh my word, talk about utensils! From measuring spoons to a Kitchen-Aid mixer, you’ll need a ton of tools. BB&B is probably the best place to register for all your kitchen needs, as well as Williams-Sonoma.

* **The Living Room:** If you’re starting from square one like my husband and I did, than you’ll need things like a couch, table and chairs, and so on. You can register for these, or you can go shopping. If you want to save a few dollars, look for your table and chairs at a place like Goodwill, Salvation Army, and places like that. You’ll find great furniture for super cheap.
* **The Bathroom:** You’ll need a toilet plunger (laugh all you want, but this is a necessity!) soap dishes, and so on. BB&B is a great place for all your bathroom necessities.
* **The Bedroom:** This one won’t be as major, because more than likely you and your fiancé will be bringing your own things, like your dressers, maybe even your bed, and comforter set. If you need a comforter set, again, BB&B, or Target are great places for those items.
* **The Office:** If you have an extra bedroom, than you may or may not need things for the office. If you want to keep it organized, than register at Best Buy for office supplies.
Now that we have a list of places to go, and the rooms you’ll need to register
for, you have a general idea of what all you need. For the next five days,
we’ll be going over, in detail, what items you really need!

A New Year’s Eve Wedding- Glitz, Glamour, and A Whole New Chapter!

A lot of people think of New Year’s Eve as the horizon of a “new you”, a new start, and a new chapter; what better way to start a new life than to say I do? New Years Eve is a fabulous time to celebrate love, life, and a new beginning, so make sure you start the new year with an unforgettable celebration! Here are a few fantastic decoration ideas, color schemes, and wardrobe pieces that will really make your New Year’s Wedding an unforgettable one!** ** **Decorations:** When you think of New Year’s Eve, you think sparkle, lights, flashy pieces, and tons of balloons and confetti! Why not incorporate that into your wedding? Here are just a few decorating essentials that you should put on your wedding shopping list!

* **Shimmery, Shiny, and Fabulous:** Love sparkly, shinny, glittery things? Well then, you’re getting married at the perfect time of year! With New Year’s Eve, glitter and shimmer are everywhere, decking everything and everyone! For a glitzy reception hall, try having glittery table runners ( or a full, blown out glittery table cloth – even better!), shiny silver candlesticks, shiny and glittery glass (or plastic) balls, balloons, dazzling chandeliers, and lots of bright flowers! You’ll have your guests mesmerized by the amount of fantastic décor decking your room!
* **Lighting:** Certain light fixtures, such as chandeliers, candelabras, and candles on candlesticks will really give off a warm, ritzy, classy feel to your reception area. Make it even more glitzy by making the light fixtures glittery and gold. Or, for a toner, get flat (non-shimmer) silver or gold fixtures.

**Color Scheme: **Think bright, happy, and bedazzled! You want to go for colors that get people excited not only for the New Year, but for you and your spouse as well! A few color schemes include:
* Gold, red, and white
* Silver, gold, black (in this case, black would tone the silver and gold down – especially if they’re shimmery – all the while keeping it classy and ritzy).
* White, purple, and gold
Although these are only a few color schemes, there are a ton of different shades you could choose from to really brighten your reception and ceremony rooms.

**Wardrobe Essentials:** Again, you want glitzy, but you also want to make sure your wedding party is warm and cozy. December and January are cold months, so you want to make sure everyone is appropriately dressed. For accessories, try having your wedding party wear things like:
* Glitzy headbands for the ladies and glittery bowties for the gentleman
* Flashy shoes for the ladies and bright, cheerful colored stockings for the gents.
* Attention-grabbing costume jewelry for the lasses (necklaces are best, especially if the bridesmaid dresses are simple on the bust area) and shiny cufflinks for the lads.
With the New Year rushing around the corner, the days are filled with lists of changes, resolutions, and better choices, so what better time to celebrate unity than on New Year’s Eve! 2015 Christmas Themed Wedding Cakes

Christmas has been here and gone already! It was a day and weekend filled with opened gifts, laughter, family time, and more food than you could imagine! Christmas time, as we’ve already established, is one of the best times to have a wedding, so if you’re getting married around Christmas of 2015, than you’re still fresh with fabulous Christmas ideas! Today we’re going to look at a few cake ideas that will really top off the festive approach to your 2015 Christmas wedding!

**Christmas Cupcakes:** Back in September, we had gone over [different styles of wedding cakes]( that were that different, original, and personal. Cupcakes were one of the many ideas that we had discussed, and for a Christmas wedding, this is still a fabulous idea! Here are just a few different design ideas that I thought were absolutely adorable!

* **An Assortment**: Not only can you have an assortment of flavors, but you can also have a smorgasbord of different designs as well! A selection will keep everyone happy and content!
