Conclusions from a Joint Bachelor/ette Party

by Nicole on August 30, 2010

If you’ve been following this blog for a little while, you know that Michael and I decided to break tradition and do a joint bachelor/ette party with our bridal party and best friends. That party was this weekend in Nashville.

So what have I concluded? Well, I can’t say what the traditional, wild “last night out” would be like, but I can tell you that Michael and I are both sooo happy with our decision to do the party together.

A lot of our bridal party is from out of town, so doing the party together was a great chance to get everyone all together to meet in a relaxed environment. I know that this is the point of the rehearsal dinner, but I still like the fact that our friends will now all know each other for 2 months before the wedding. Plus, you’re always going to be more comfortable with people you’ve partied with over people you’ve just shared a meal with…it’s just a fact.

But oddly enough, amongst the blur that is any good night out on the town, this weekend kind of brought my wedding planning back down to Earth. I’ve been so consumed with linens and flowers and dessert tables, etc., etc., etc. (and the fact that Michael and I are not going to have the money to do everything we want to do), that I almost started to loose sight of what really matters – getting our closest friends and family together to celebrate our marriage.

While no one will probably remember the color of the table linens or if the chairs has covers on them, they will remember what an absolutely awesome time they had…and that’s really what I want my guests to get out of my wedding.

So thanks to my bridesmaids, Michael’s groomsmen, and all of our closest friends for an amazing weekend! Now I hope these next 2 months fly by so we can do it all over again in Knoxville : )

Now, tell me about your bachelor and/or bachelorette party plans…
