New Year’s Resolutions for the Newly Engaged

by Cheryl on December 27, 2011

The holidays are a time of spreading cheer with your friends, family and loved ones. And it happens to be the time of year when giddy guys pop the question to their lovely ladies. It also happens to be the time of year for making another kind of commitment — New Year’s resolutions! So here are a few “resolutions” I suggest to any engaged gal!

1. Resolve to Stay Calm.

Getting engaged can bring about a whirlwind of emotions from the initial joy and excitement to the anxiety and frustration that wedding planning can create. Try your best to keep it all in perspective, and tackle your “I Do” to-do list one day at a time.

2. Resolve to be a Gracious Bride.

I have said it once, and I will probably say it again, there is nothing pretty about becoming a bridezilla! Sure, we will all have our moments we when struggle to keep it all together, but you will be much better off in the long run if you resolve not to unleash a bridal rampage at your wedding vendors, bridal party and family (especially your hubby-to-be). Looking back, the catastrophes that triggered your frenzy are likely to only be minor bumps in the road.

3. Resolve to Pamper Yourself.

Every girl should take time out of her busy schedule to pamper herself, whether wedding planning or not. However, your bling is going to be quite the talk of the town with everyone wanting to catch a glimpse! So keep those nails nice and pretty while you dazzle them with your new diamond!

4. Resolve to Love Yourself!

One of the overall top resolutions made is to lose weight, especially if you have an upcoming wedding to star in. While living a healthy lifestyle, exercising and eating right are good rules to live by for all of us, no bride to be should feel bad about herself trying to fit into a certain size dress. Remember, your fiance proposed to you just the way you are, right?  He will love you regardless, as should you!

What other resolutions are you making this year?
